Aussie Sapphire would like to wish all of our customers, friends and family a very happy new year for 2008 – may this year bring peace, happiness, good health and prosperity to all.

As always, the fireworks display on Sydney Harbour was spectacular as this photo demonstrates (AAP Image: Tracey Nearmy from ABC Online):

Gold Earring Settings

Posted December 28, 2007 By Admin

We have been searching for some time for a supplier of blank gold settings at a reasonable price.  We have now sourced a small range of blank stud earrings that we’re sure you’ll find great value.

These settings are 14k yellow gold and are of the “Snap” type so are easy for anyone to set their gems.  Currently, we have 3mm and 6mm round in 4 prong studs and 4mm and 5mm round in 6 prong studs.

14k yellow gold earring settingsPlease see our Earring catalogue for these new items.  Pricing is for one pair of earrings with butterfly backs included.  All you need is a pair of gems to complete the project – of course, you’ll find a great selection at Aussie Sapphire.

Making your own jewellery is very satisfying and you can make great savings on retail prices.

Please note that we can source most of our silver items in 14k gold from our original supplier – please contact us for a quote any time.  We’ll be including more items in this new range as soon as as can but we are obliged to place large orders to obtain the best pricing possible.  Quoting on single items must be from our original supplier and pricing will reflect this.

Cheers from now from Andrew and Leah (Aussie Sapphire)

Merry Christmas

xmas1.gifAussie Sapphire would like to wish all our friends, customers and family a very merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy New Year for 2008.

We are looking forward to a couple of days off to enjoy Christmas celebrations with family although farming jobs wont wait too long.  We wont be posting parcels until the posties get back on the job next week but will be busy planting and harvesting crops in the meantime.  We are on the job though so feel free to place your order and we will prepare your parcel for the first available post.

Mining will start back up again in a couple of weeks and we hope to have some nice new rough for your consideration.  There are some great new products and specials online now and we expect to get a couple of second hand faceting machines listed in a couple of weeks.  Taking up a new hobby would be a good New Year’s Resolution and we suggest gem faceting would be a great choice.

Gift Ideas from Aussie Sapphire

Posted December 8, 2007 By Admin

globekoala.gifChristmas is just around the corner and if you’re anything like us, you probably havent finished your Christmas shopping yet.  To help you out, we have put together a small selection of gift ideas on the website.  Of course, we suggest you take a good look through all the sections because we have lots of great items listed.

The Gift Ideas section also contain our Gift Certificates which you can send to people in a range of denominations starting from $10.

Post is always very busy at this time of year but remember that we do offer courier delivery by Star Track Express.  Many of our larger items have Courier as a freight option but for smaller items, we suggest you request Star Track Express so we can get your parcel delivered as soon as possible.  Please make sure you provide a suitable address for courier delivery (no PO Boxes) – we prefer an address where someone can be present to sign for the parcel (eg. work address).

If you are overseas, Fedex delivery is also available but please keep in mind that even with Fedex, we are running out of time to deliver by Christmas.  Gift certificates can be delivered immediately so are an excellent alternative in these cases.

Strange Sapphire Flat

Posted December 1, 2007 By AussieSapphire

While sorting some small sapphire mine run recently, came across this strange piece of sapphire. Only a small piece and very flat so not cuttable but interesting to collectors who like gems that are a little unusual. Three very distinct patches of colour – blue, red and almost clear (slightly yellowish).

Click on the images to see a larger version of the photos – the lower one shows how thin and flat this piece is but the colours are very unusual – a definite tricolor sapphire.

Cheers for now from Andrew and Leah (Aussie Sapphire – remember to check the website for lots of great Christmas gift ideas – courier delivery is available so you can be sure your parcel will arrive in time)
